A New Song, June 1, 2015

“And when they heard it, they lifted their voices together to God and said, “Sovereign Lord, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything in them, who through the mouth of our father David, your servant, said by the Holy Spirit, ‘Why did the Gentiles rage, and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers were gathered together, against the Lord and against his Anointed’” (Acts 4:24-26 ESV)

God chose a gray canopy this morning, with only a brief, early swath of pink. Creation is quiet and subtle. As the coffee accomplished its reason for existence, the Lordship of Father and Son over creation and all of life came to my mind.

Quoting Psalm 2, Acts 4:24-26 mingles the creation work of God and his sovereignty-control-mysteriousness-mastership. They are inseparable. At their peril, in Psalm 2 only the rebellious and arrogant kings and peoples futilely, stupidly resist the rule of the Lord of creation. Um…do I?

Sovereign Father and Son, bowing comes hard sometimes. Thank You for Your choices for me today.
