Glorious Exuberance

New Day, November 19, 2014

“Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these? He who brings out their host by number, calling them all by name; by the greatness of his might, and because he is strong in power not one is missing.” (Isaiah 40:26)

A friend recently asked why I get up so early. And miss the amazing crisp and clear and cold and colorful sky like this morning?! Isaiah 40:26 provides the best perspective: to see an echo of God’s glory.

They—God and His glory—are the starting place for the day, centering my heart.

“What is the universe but the lavish demonstration of the incredible, incomparable, unimaginable exuberance and wisdom and power and greatness of  God! What a God he must be!” John Piper

I am especially drawn to Isaiah’s phrase, “and not one of them is missing.” It reminds me of Jesus, who promised He would “never leave nor forsake” us. The God of strength and power and might and sovereignty is also caring!

Bank on it, John.
