The Only Imperative

“And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.” Matthew 7:25

“The only imperative that nature utters is, ‘Look. Listen. Attend.” C.S. Lewis

Father,

cause today’s weather to

speak loudly that

I may see You “who works… both to will and to work for his good pleasure.”

Mercifully yet firmly move me to

listen to the Rock, to

ruthlessly shun lesser gravel.

Then Lord,

what from me will bring pleasure to You

today?

The only imperative is calling.
