A Faithful Witness

Sunrise, June 23, 2014

Intentionally observing sunrises for five months has brought deeply satisfying mornings.

One wonder and joy has been the moon, which is always somewhere (duh), but sometimes wonderfully appears alongside the sun in startling ways. Today it was on the waning side of a quarter-moon and it practically positioned itself on top of the pink sky and blue clouds that heralded a bright sunrise. If the sun is King of the morning, Queen Moon and Princess Venus held court and smiled on God’s good morning.

Hope and promise filled the sky and me as I remembered Psalm 89:34-37: “I will not violate my covenant or alter the word that went forth from my lips. Once for all I have sworn by my holiness; I will not lie to David. His offspring shall endure forever, his throne as long as the sun before me. Like the moon it shall be established forever, a faithful witness in the skies.”

These verses are a reminder of the Davidic Covenant and God’s promise of the greater King David, our Messiah!

Thank You Father in heaven, for your faithful witness—the moon—and it’s promise of King Jesus. You’ve given an amazing “hello” today.
